Cape San Blas is part of the Forgotten Coast on Florida’s northwest side in the panhandle and along the Gulf of Mexico Coast. It is home to the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and a neighbor to the town of Port St. Joe.

Cape San Blas is a 17-mile-long barrier peninsula that is just barely connected the panhandle and mainland Florida by a very narrow piece of land. The inland side of the peninsula helps to form a barrier for St. Joseph Bay with some of the most beautiful quiet beaches with shallow and smooth water. The other side of the peninsula is on the Gulf of Mexico with amazing white sugar sand beaches. The Cape, as it is sometimes called, is well-loved for its family-friendly low gentle surf.

Horseback Riding

Available through guided tours, the beaches are an amazing spot for horseback riding whether you are a pro or have never been on a horse.

Small Boat Rentals

There are plenty of areas to rent a smaller watercraft including kayaks and canoes. The bay is one of the best spots to enjoy a non-motorized boat excursion.

Golf

There are several great golf courses near Cape San Blas including the Saint Joe Bay Golf Club offering 18 hole championship course on the Saint Joe Bay. There’s also the Saint James Bay Country Club as well as the Wildwood Country Club.

St. Joseph Peninsula St. Park

Tea. H. Stone Memorial Saint Joseph Peninsula State Park is the official full name of this park and it is quite the mouthful so many shorten it to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. This park is one of the most beautiful and pristine in the area encompassing 20 miles along Cape San Blas and it is a haven for local wildlife. There are several amazing activities you can enjoy at the park. The park's website lists several including bicycling, birding, boating, camping, primitive camping, primitive group camping, fishing, hiking, paddling paddle boarding and canoeing, scuba diving, chilling, snorkeling, swimming, walking, running, wildlife viewing, and there’s even a great venue for special events including weddings.

The amenities at the park allow for handy capable options, the beach which is the most beautiful and has been rated the best beach in America, a boat ramp, cabins, fire pits for campfires, campgrounds, a canoe and kayak launch, a restaurant concession stand, nature trails, easily accessible parking for an additional fee, picnic pavilions, playground, RV parking, shower station, and restrooms.

Loggerhead run bike trail

This trail stretches 8 miles on the base side of Cape San Blas from Salinas Park to the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. It is one of the most beautiful bike rides you can experience in Florida.
